2010 Audition Requirements

Students need to begin preparations for the upcoming Centennial HS Band Auditions!! The audition dates for all new band members is Friday, May 8, 2009. Auditions will be held between the hours of 4–6 pm. Make-up auditions will be held at each Middle School from May 11-13, 2009. All students who are interested in becoming or continuing participation the Centennial High School Band Program must complete an audition or get a recommendation from their Middle School Band Director.

All Current high school students will have auditions on May 4th through May 8th during regular class times. The auditions requirements are listed below. With a limited number of seniors in the Wind Ensemble, there will be limited openings. We anticipate having three concert ensembles next year to include the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band.

*GMEA 9-10th Grade All-State Lyrical Etude
*GMEA 9-10th Grade All-State Scales – Memorized
*One Minor Scale – Natural Form
Sight-Reading (Grade V)

Symphonic Band
*GMEA Middle School All-State Lyrical Etude
*GMEA Middle School All-State All State Scales – Memorized
Sight-Reading (Grade III)

Concert Band
Middle School Band Director Recommendation
No audition necessary

Percussion

To adequately prepare for the auditions, students should take lessons and practice scales, sight-reading, All-State etudes, band music; and any additional exercises given by the directors and staff. We look forward to each of our students taking advantage of the audition process.
