The Jazz Ensemble meets during the Fall and Spring semesters and students with advanced skills and abilities in instrumental music performance. Members of the Knight Wind are selected by the Band Faculty and Staff through a rigorous audition process. The group rehearses on Wednesday of each week and additional assigned out-of –school rehearsal and performances. The group is committed to the most outstanding performances of new works and other significant works of the jazz band repertoire. All section leaders are required to participate in the annual All-State Band Audition process. This group performs literature from the various adjudicated levels for competition and festivals. Students in grade levels 9–12 are eligible for membership.
