Hard work and the thrill of performing has paid off for members of the Centennial High School Band as they have been invited to participate in the first Annual Field Show USA. On October 10, 2010 they will travel to Washington DC to participate in this historic event.
This will be a marching competition that will take place on the Ellipse in President’s Park in view of the White House. We have the honor of being the only band representing the State of Georgia. We were chosen not only because of the musical attributes of our band but also our academics. One of the requirements to participate in this event is an overall GPA of 3.0. Our band works hard not only on the field and in the band room, but in the classroom as well.
As we prepare for this trip we have some major needs and we are reaching out to our community for financial assistance. Our drum line equipment has aged and is worn to the point that most pieces are in a state of disrepair. We have stands that don’t stand, drums that are tattered and chipped, and carriers that can’t be worn by the students. Our goal is to raise $12,000 to purchase new drums, stands, covers, and carriers to outfit our drum line for the trip to Washington, DC. We need to purchase five snare drums, five bass drums, and three sets of tenor drums to have our drum line ready. As part of our Centennial community we hope you will help us reach our goal.
